The postal worker was roughed up by three suspects on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at around 11:40 a.m. near Arden Road and Winthrop Street in Medford, according to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
The suspects snatched a key from the carrier before running away toward a car waiting on Playstead Road, the Medford Police Department said.
The car was later spotted in Lowell, and the people inside it were identified. However, no arrests have been made, as the investigation is ongoing, police said.
The postal worker is being treated at a local hospital for serious injuries.
“The injuries, while significant, are not believed to be life-threatening,” the Postal Inspection Service said in a statement.
The incident is being investigated by both Medford Police and the Postal Inspection Service.
